Main slab of terrazzo in the living room had a noticeable hairline crack. Terrazzo man will come and inspect this next week hopefully. Hope this can be fixed! The earth around the area is unstable? Or was there an impact? No idea... He may just say it's beyond their control... :(

Progress
More views of the hollow iron frame... it's installed a bit higher than the previous awning so the water can drip to the sides (and onto the other neighbours' awning :(! The iron person said it will also make the place lighter/airier. Proportionally a bit off from the façade vantage point but it will do!?
Remnants from the previous metal awning...
The drainage hole from the balcony is now another problem!
Has to be a pipe leading downwards now...

Random purchases for the home
From 2nd Charm, Taman Tun Dr Ismail
70s stools, and a 50s dessert making apparatus that looks like a tiny nordic sculpture to me!

Progress, August 20, 2011
The unsightly steel awning is torn down! In place is a grid-like matt black powder-coated framework for the bitumen cellulose fibre sheets (dark grey or dark brown, not sure). My contractor gave me a sample of asbestos once. POISON! No no no.

Progress, August 17, 2011
The balcony is fixed — now with four ventilation holes on the top-front, instead of two in the middle!
Cement flooring laid over the waterproofing.
BIG PROBLEM: the living room door is a little too small for the door frame, so it only closes fully shut if you push it a certain way. They were based on my contractor's calculations. Need to ask him to red this somehow! Plus the bracket is installed horribly (also I have told the indonesian workers that the bracket is for the bedroom doors, not the living room!)................ UNACCEPTABLE.
Horrid details...
There goes my dreams for a natural wooden doorframe...
Probably need to paint it one colour to hide the imperfections...
The top bracket is installed a little better but still ugly/not meticulously done.
Upstairs, same problem with the bracket on the bedroom door...
How to pakai like this?????????
(photo taken before the accessory installation — this Nyatoh door has white bands across it! How to fix this?!)
The doors still need to be painted with a matt/clear lacquer... hopefully that could cover up the whiter bits but not sure... annoying renovation woes...

Fantasy rendering... August 2011
Currently still a mess!
The contractor purchased these light-weight bricks to use for the balcony... so high up! 3 feet tall. Plus there were two air vents in the middle... it looks like an animal's snout! I told him to rectify this to the 4 holes — as shown in the previous posts.
I don't really mind (now) that the floor-to-ceiling windows are covered up by about 40%... it could break the proportions a little (so it looks like a long rectangular window from the façade viewpoint, instead of two large square-ish shapes that lack contrast!). Plus the four little holes (and two more at the side - not shown here) will serve also as little light openings from-the-house and into-the-house anyway. Also added privacy.
Iron works
Perforated steel doors with motorised opening mechanism. Painted matt black. Diameter of the holes, 9 mm. Macam ala-ala Mac Pro tak? :P
